Arsenal's dirtiest team in Premier League

Oleh Aditya Ramadhan

Cesc Fabregas escaped punishment over red card menggankan Stephen Ward in the match against Wolves at Molineux, but all that did not make Arsenal escape from its status as the dirtiest team in the Premier League.
Arsenal are now in the basic fair play league standings. Fabregas action apologized to Ward for his hard tackling, also apologies coach Arsene Wenger told Mick McCarthy, did not bring any effect.
Fabregas, the Arsenal captain, has so far only resemble one yellow card from referee Mark Halsey, despite the many actions that must get a red card.
Last season, Arsenal are top of the fair play league. 2008/2009 season, Arsenal are third. Now, Arsenal bad boy deserves a nickname in the elite ranks of English football. This status was obtained by Arsenal 14 years ago, or when Wenger arrived.
Laurent Koscielny probably the most feasible dubbed bad boy. He twice mendapa red cards this season. Alex Song and Jack Wilshere each get one.
Arsenal beat West Bromwich Albion, which three players received red cards in a month.
Since Wenger forbiddenThe Confession: A Novel to accompany his team from the sidelines due to encourage officials, the coach is in danger of leading the chorus of dirty-faced angel.
If the previous players' Le Professeur complain frequently targeted rough game opponent, he now instructed as foster children to play in every way. British press wrote Wenger provoked by the insistence of his fans for Arsenal no longer do a soft touch in the field.
British public may still have not forgotten how Rayan Shawcross, Robert Huth, and Paul Robinson, making the injured Arsenal players. Now, the British public could witness an Arsenal player who has the potential to injure the opponent.
Arsenal might enjoy a game of ball possession in every game, but that does not make it beyond the team's most lots in violation. So far only five teams that do the 160 violations this season. Other well above that.

Fantastic Fernando Torres

www.goal.com

By Wayne Veysey at Anfield

Nov 8, 2010 5:10:00 AM

Like all of the managerial brotherhood, Roy Hodgson rails firmly against the cult of the individual in a sport where the team ethic is prized highest.

But the Liverpool boss has also been around the block long enough to know that the best-laid plans are pretty much useless without heavy artillery to carry them out.
Hodgson has been waiting so long for Fernando Torres to regain the powers that once sent even the world’s most assured center-halves to the psychiatrist’s couch that they had almost taken on a mystical dimension.
He had been forced to defend his player by saying that he looked sharp in training, when all the evidence during match day was that the Spaniard was a fumbling, stumbling shadow of his instinctive former self. Whether it was through a shortage of fitness, interest or confidence, it did not reflect well on his manager.
The knife that had hovered around Hodgson’s back as Liverpool sunk into the bottom three and a Tom Hicks and George Gillett-inspired depression has edged away after a cathartic five-match run that began inauspiciously with a 0-0 draw in Napoli and followed with four consecutive victories. The last of these, against the Premier League champions, was, given the caliber of the opponent and the dynamism of Liverpool’s performance, easily the most impressive.
Torres played no part in the third of those wins, when one-man whirlwind Steven Gerrard provided the cake mixture, the icing and the cherry against Napoli at Anfield last Thursday.
But, while being way below his devastating best in the first two, the Spaniard had still scored the winner against Blackburn Rovers and teed up Maxi Rodriguez’s clincher against Bolton Wanderers with a clever back-heel.
Yet, even the president, chairman or secretary of the Torres fan club would be hard still scored the winner against Blackburn Rovers and teed up Maxi Rodriguez’s clincher against Bolton Wanderers with a clever back-heel.
Yet, even the president, chairman or secretary of the Torres fan club would be hard pushed to argue that it was the same ‘El Nino’ who had been taken into Kop hearts during his first three seasons at Anfield and defiantly clasped to its bosom yest any better endowed club had tried to seduce him away from his adopted home.At times this season, watching Torres has been excruciating. His first touch has resembled a misdirected five-yard pass, he has had the acceleration of a people carrier and, most damning of all, displayed an alarming unwillingness to chase back.
With the Spaniard barely deserving of a place in the team, Liverpool’s 4-2-3-1 system, with the striker as its apex, and which had been devised by Rafael Benitez to get the best out of him, looked unimaginably dreary and cautious.
Unable to rely on Torres’ brilliance, Hodgson, who has made his reputation as an astute organizer specializing in backs-against-the-wall defiance interspersed with occasional stardust, was making even Rafael Benitez look like an adrenaline junkie.
However, it was Hodgson’s tactics that were at the heart of comfortably Liverpool’s best performance of the season. Fit-again Dirk Kuyt was dragged in from the right flank to force John Obi Mikel out of his leisurely stride and provide some distraction to John Terry and Alex. Raul Meireles was deployed out wide to keep Ashley Cole busy, allowing Gerrard to form a central alliance with Lucas that was rich in energy, enterprise and enthusiasm.
Hodgson’s tactics provided the perfect springboard for what Liverpool worshipers hope will be a rebirth of their beloved ‘Nando’. In many ways, it was good old 4-4-2, or 4-4-1-1 if you’re being really picky, given that Kuyt’s starting position was 10 or 15 yards behind Torres.

Back to his best | Torres put his stumbling form behind him to score two brilliant goals
In the first half, it worked to perfection as Chelsea were blown away by the sheer pace and intensity of Liverpool’s play.
Invited to arch behind Terry and Ashley Cole by Kuyt’s superbly measured ball in the 11thminute, Torres galloped away and lifted the ball precisely over Petr Cech and into the net. Thirty-three minutes later, he showed the variety in his repertoire by cutting swiftly inside Branislav Ivanovic and delivering a curling right-foot shot from the edge of the box beyond Cech’s grasp. Two opportunistic strikes of differing, but equal brilliance.
His Premier League record at Anfield now reads an incredible 44 goals in 47 appearances. In total, he has scored 76 goals in 129 appearances for the club. Even in this, a season that has begun so dismally for player and club, there have been four goals, each of them crucial, in 14 matches.
Credit to Hodgson for his willingness to tear up a well-thumbed tactical script and for coaxing a performance so solid that Carlo Ancelotti acknowledged afterwards how Liverpool had defended supremely as a team over 90 minutes and deserved to win. Finally, here was the hugely admired manager that Liverpool had enticed from west London in the summer.
Yet for all the inspiration of Gerrard, the leadership of Jamie Carragher and the selfless running of Lucas and Kuyt, Liverpool would not have chalked up three points without Torres rising to the occasion against one of his favorite opponents.
The Liverpool No.9 is a strike weapon with few equals. "One always hopes that playing at this level you have got that quality of front player," said Hodgson. You sense Torres will have to remain at his best for the Hodgson era to be remembered fondly by generations to come.

    Cristiano Ronaldo's On Facebook

KOMPAS.com - Cristiano Ronaldo has become the father of a baby boy according to an extraordinary announcement on his Facebook page. The shock message, which was also posted on the 25-year- old former Manchester United star's Twitter account, indicated that he would bring up the child without the unnamed mother.

The footballer is currently dating Russian underwear model Irina Shayk, but the baby's mother is said to be American. Ronaldo spent last summer in Los Angeles and Miami after signing for Real Madrid from Manchester United for a record £80million.

The world's most expensive and arguably most famous footballer said his son would be kept under his ' exclusive guardianship', leading to questions about why the mother has given him up.

The baby is thought likely to be brought up by Ronaldo's family in his native Portugal. Ronaldo, whose poor World Cup campaign came to an end last week when Portugal were knocked out by Spain, is now concentrating again on club football.

But his gruelling training regime and fixtures at Real Madrid, where he earns £180,000 a week, combined with a love of the high life, make it all but impossible to imagine him being a single parent.

That makes it likely that the child's upbringing will have plenty of input from Ronaldo's formidable mother Dolores. The announcement of the birth was made on the internet in the early hours of yesterday morning.

It said: 'It is with great joy and emotion that I inform I have recently become father to a baby boy.

'As agreed with the baby's mother, who prefers to have her identity kept confidential, my son will be under my exclusive guardianship.'

Last night, more than 18 hours after the messages first appeared and after 40,000 fans had registered their congratulations on Facebook, Ronaldo's agent confirmed the story, saying: 'Yes, it's true. We make no further comment.'

It is not known whether the footballer had a fling with the woman in question or whether she had the child through a 'Ricky Martin'- style arrangement.
The singer became a father to twins with help from a surrogate mother in 2008.

Yesterday a Portuguese newspaper, Correio da Manha, said Ronaldo's son was born in early June. A family friend apparently told the newspaper that the player's mother and sisters Elma and Katia were preparing the documentation to take the child to Portugal.

However, last night it was understood that the baby is already in Portugal. Ronaldo has been linked to scores of beautiful women in the past few years.

He was linked with tennis player Maria Sharapova, 23, in 2006, and Big Brother star Imogen Thomas, 26, in 2008. Last year he was romantically linked with Paris Hilton, 29, in June and with Kim Kardashian, 29, in April of this year.

If it is true that the baby was born in June, it must have been conceived around September last year when 21-year-old Italian Raffaella Fico claimed to be dating the footballer.

Ronaldo took her to an Elton John concert in Lisbon in June 2009. Months later, she claimed she was still dating the star and had met his family, but Ronaldo never commented on the supposed relationship. The striker is said to be madly in love with current girlfriend Irina.

Last month they were enjoying a five-day pre-World Cup break on a £50,000 a-week yacht off the coast of Corsica, with the 5ft 10in green-eyed beauty telling friends Ronaldo wanted to have children with her.

Only two months ago, Ronaldo was at the centre of a pregnancy riddle involving a stunning Spanish model. Former Miss Spain Maria Jose Suarez was linked to the star after splitting with her boyfriend, tennis player Feliciano Lopez, when she discovered she was pregnant.

The footballer was named in the media as her secret lover, sparking speculation he was the father of the child. But she denied sleeping with Ronaldo and last week it emerged she had lost her baby.

Nigeria's Keita flooded by Death Treat

JOHANNESBURG, KOMPAS.com - Nigeria’s Sani Kaita has received more than 1,000 death threats by email in the wake of his red card against Greece, it was revealed on Sunday. The 24-year-old midfielder was shown a red card in the 33rd minute of his side’s 2-1 defeat to Greece in Group B on Thursday and his email address was posted on the internet alongside the message: “This man must die”.
Nigeria’s team spokesman Peterside Idah confirmed Kaita had already had ’more than 1,000’ death threats via email. “We take this issue very seriously. We have informed Nigeria’s government and football’s governing body FIFA,” said Idah.
Idah said that Kaita’s team mates are “appalled” and the Nigerian appealed to the African nation’s fans to show some compassion. “This is a young man who does his best to serve the team and his country,” he said.
Kaita, who plays his club football for Russian side Alaniya, was surprisingly calm about the threats. “I am not worried about it,” said the defensive midfielder who won a silver medal at the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games when Nigeria finished runners-up.
“Only god decides who lives and who dies. “Everybody has their own destiny on this earth.
“I am proud to be part of this team. I hope we can go further and that I will be available for the team again.” While security at the Nigeria team hotel in Durban has not been stepped up, Idah said the team are happy with the current arrangements.
“There are already a lot of security forces on the ground,” he said. “The arrangements by the world’s governing body FIFA have been thorough.” Kaita was sent off for a kick on Greece’s Vasileios Torosidis and is suspended for the last group game against South Korea on Tuesday .
Nigeria must win to keep alive their slim chances of progressing to the knock-out phase after losing their first two matches. After his dismissal, Kaita apologised immediately.
“I apologise to everyone - the Nigerian people, the officials and my team-mates,” he said. He would not be the first player to receive death threats - Colombia’s Andres Escobar paid the ultimate price when he was shot dead shortly after returning from the 1994 finals where his own goal in the 2-1 defeat by the United States saw the hotly-fancied South Americans go out in the first round.

    France Lost In Africa

    Argentina=Maradona

Johannesburg. Diego Maradona is set to unleash his trio of goal poachers to get Argentina off to a flying start against Nigeria in Johannesburg on Saturday.

The two-time world champions boasts a salivating forward line of Lionel Messi, Carlos Tevez and Gonzalo Higuain, and coach Maradona is tinkering with pitching in all three in an attacking 3-4-3 formation at Ellis Park.

Between them the dazzling trio netted more than 80 league goals last term for Barcelona, Manchester City and Spain’s Real Madrid, respectively.

Argentine fans’ favorite Tevez said he hoped to “get the chance to show the coach what I can do. We have great players [and I] don’t feel my place is assured.”

The Argentines may have stumbled across the finish line in qualification for South Africa 2010, but Maradona has at his disposal a squad of sumptuous talent in his first World Cup as the head coach.

Maradona, who as the world’s greatest player, inspired Argentina to a World Cup triumph in 1986, will go with a three-man backline enabling him to field a three-man strikeforce.

Marseille centre-half Gabriel Heinze said this week that “Argentina will always go after the game” and not sit tight and be ultra-cautious.

Saturday’s opening Group B game offers Messi, the world’s best player thanks to his sensational club form with Barcelona, the ideal stage to stake an early claim as the star of the tournament.

“Player for player, there is no better national team than ours,” Messi said.

“At this stage I don’t have to prove anything. I’ve come to do things well for me and for my teammates.”

Heinze moved to ease the enormous burden of expectations on Messi to perform, saying that Argentina is not dependent on the diminutive playmaker.

Argentina has beaten Nigeria twice at the World Cup – 1-0 in 2002 and 2-1 in 1994 – and will be favoured to do so again.

The mood inside Africa’s most populous nation is not overly optimistic about the Super Eagles’ chances against Argentina.

But their Portsmouth striker Nwankwo Kanu holds out hope that Nigeria will not be intimidated in what will be its first competitive game under Swedish coach Lars Lagerback.

“Argentina has the big-name players and everyone respects them. We also acknowledge that they are good and great players,” he said.

“But Argentina also has the same respect for us because it knows the quality of our team and knows that there is plenty that we can come up with at anytime.”

All the same the pressure will be on Argentina to come through its opening match in South Africa with a win to set a platform for a crack at a third world title.

South Korea and Greece, two teams with their best results of the decade well behind them, meet in Group B’s other match.

South Korea was a surprise semifinalist in 2002 when it co-hosted the World Cup with Japan, while Greece won the 2004 European Championship.

Neither has gone near those highs since, but both have a realistic chance of advancing from the group.

However, Greece’s chances against South Korea on Saturday won’t be helped by news that center back Vangelis Moras will sit out the match despite having recovered from a persistent groin injury.

Moras is getting daily physiotherapy in a bid to overcome the nagging injury. Tests showed he was recovered, but he said it is too early for a World Cup match.

“I don’t want to risk it,” Moras said. “I want to be fit for Nigeria.”

    Alasan Mourinho pindah

JERMAIN Defoe and Gareth Bale blew the Barclays Premier League title race open with goals against Chelsea – and also put Tottenham back in the Champions League places.
Defoe tucked away from the penalty spot for his 24th of the season after John Terry handled in the area, then Bale followed up his midweek goal against Arsenal with another before the break.

Terry's miserable evening, after being involved in a ve

rbal spat with a supporter at half-time, was capped off with a sending off for two bookings.

Frank Lampard pulled one back, but it was too late for Chelsea.

United's victory in the Manchester derby cut into Chelsea's lead and also favoured Spurs in their hunt for fourth place as they knew a victory would take them back above City – and within a quarter of an hour they were ahead.

Roman Pavlyuchenko fired over from the edge of the area and also had an effort blocked by Alex – but Harry Redknapp's men were not made to wait long for their opener.

They were denied penalties when Defoe appeared to get his shirt pulled by Terry and when Bale went over John Mikel Obi's challenge, then Phil Dowd pointed to the spot after the third appeal. Pavlyuchenko stepped over Bale's cross and Terry leant in with his arm, enough for Dowd to award a penalty.

Defoe stepped up and sent Petr Cech the wrong way.

It got worse for Chelsea as Mikel picked up an injury and was replaced by Michael Ballack in the 34th minute.

Bale doubled the lead just before the break when he cut inside Paulo Ferreira and beat Cech at the near post.

Lampard almost pulled one back immediately, but Heurelho Gomes pulled off a save at full stretch.

There was drama at half-time, starting with Terry's spat with a fan.

Ancelotti's response was to use his remaining substitutes at the break, with Nicolas Anelka and Branislav Ivanovic coming on for Joe Cole and Ferreira, but Didier Drogba then pulled up injured just before the restart. With all of Chelsea's substitutes used, Drogba had to hobble back on.

Defoe had a chance to extend the lead in the 50th minute when Pavlyuchenko played him through, but Cech was down to save the one-on-one opportunity.

The feisty atmosphere went up a notch when Lampard and Tom Huddlestone clashed, leading to the Spurs player getting booked and Deco being cautioned for his role in the aftermath.

Terry was also cautioned for bringing down Pavlyuchenko when the Russian was running at goal. He got his marching orders 23 minutes from time, with his second foul on Bale.

Bentley almost added another but his cheeky lob was tipped over by Cech and there was also time for Gomes to deny Drogba from close range and for Lampard to pull one back in stoppage time.

    Nemanja Vidic

Nemanja Vidic made a successful return on his first start in 2010 for United, turning in a commanding defensive display in the 3-0 win over West Ham.
The Serbian has been troubled by a nerve problem in his right leg, and hadn’t played since the win over Wigan at the end of December. But his towering performance on Tuesday was a welcome sight.

“It’s nice to be back,” he told MUTV. “I enjoyed playing again. It’s a long time since I last played, but I am happy first of all that we won the game, and also that I feel OK in terms of the injury. I feel well and that’s very important for me. I didn’t feel any reaction today. So I am very happy.

“When I finished last season, I thought this season would be even better, but I’ve had the injury and this year has been very frustrating. I missed pre-season and two months recently. I hope the injury is in the past and I’m looking forward to the next games.”

United were defensively sound with Vidic marshalling the back four, and the 28-year-old was pleased with the team’s clean sheet.

“It was 3-0 but we could maybe have scored more,” he added. “We played some good football. In the beginning it wasn’t an easy game.
two forwards and tried to score. They had some good chances, but we dealt with that and deserved the three points.”

The win puts United a point behind league leaders Chelsea, who play their game in hand against Manchester City at Stamford Bridge on Saturday. They could reclaim a four-point lead, but Vidic isn’t worried by the Blues’ advantage.

“We believe we can win the title,” he said. “Confidence is a big word, but we believe we can do it. They could be four points in front of us [with their game in hand] but they have to come to our ground [in April]. We can do it, especially with some big players back from injury. I think we will be good for the rest of the season.”

    John Terry Make Chealsea Win

You couldn't script it, could you? John Terry will wake up on Sunday to see his name plastered across the front pages of the newspapers, with further revelations set to come out about the various 'transgressions' (as Tiger Woods might call them) in his private life. But at least the 29-year-old will be able to console himself by turning to the back pages, where his name will also adorn the headlines — this time for all the right reasons. It speaks volumes for his character — on the pitch, at least — that Terry was able to shut out the expected abuse he received at Turf Moor ("Same old Terry, always cheating" being the favourite) to put in the sort of disciplined defensive performance that his side have always relied on him for. His late goal — his first away from home for the club in two years – earned his side a crucial three points against a determined Burnley side, points that give his side a crucial four-point advantage over their two nearest rivals, Arsenal and Manchester United, as they prepare to face off against each other on Sunday.
The subdued reaction to his goal was about the only indication of how much current events are already beginning to weigh on Terry personally, although his team-mates showed their solidarity with their beleaguered captain as they all came over to offer their congratulations.

The 2-1 win was just about deserved for Chelsea, as Burnley once again proved what a tough team they are to visit. Nicolas Anelka's opening goal, after good work from Florent Malouda and Joe Cole, looked like sending Chelsea on their way but the team had to show good character to restore their advantage after Alex had contrived to hand Steven Fletcher an easy opportunity to equalise.

The final whistle signaled the completion of a perfect January for the Blues — five wins from five in a month where the absence of the side's African contigent (the club could have played Didier Drogba at Turf Moor, but opted not to) was supposed to derail their title bid.

Instead, they have re-asserted their credentials.

"It's a testament to the squad and the lads how we've done while they've been away," Frank Lampard said after the game.

"It's a very important stage in the season, and we're in good form. Today we had to show a little bit of grit, after they pulled level, and we did that."

While being careful not to endorse Terry's off-field activities, before and after the game both Carlo Ancelotti and his assistant Ray Wilkins were keen to re-affirm that the whole squad still have faith in their captain.

"He's a fantastic player, every game he plays very well and also tonight he played an important part for us," Ancelotti said.

"That is his private life, this is about work and we don't have to say anything. He is very professional, a fantastic captain. All of Chelsea support him and his family."

The coming days, even weeks, are not going to be pleasant for the Chelsea No. 26, but he will take some comfort from Saturday's result. At a ground where both Arsenal and Manchester United failed to win, this had the feel of a defining game in the title race.

The England captain (although that might not be for too much longer) is sure to face more tough times ahead.

But at least for now his team-mates, manager and the club's fans can be assured of something they probably already knew; that no matter how bad things get off the pitch, it won't affect Terry where it matters to them most — on it.
